BRARA General Membership Meeting minutes for 6-February-2024
The BRARA monthly association meeting was held in person at the Boca West Branch of the Palm Beach County Library and via Zoom conference. The meeting was called to order by the President, Ralph W1DAR at 6:37pm local. Attending: 26 at the library and 12 Zoom participants. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. Officers and directors provided an update of their club related activities. Tonight’s speaker is Rick Rosen K1DS with a presentation on satellite communications.

Mike reported that the January minutes have been uploaded to the BRARA Blog. Motion to accept the minutes made by Art WA8VSJ, seconded by Bill WA2NCH. Motion carried. New member Carolyn Torrillo (Assoc). Currently have 206 members including members in the grace period.

Income: $472.17
Income includes $247.17 in memberships, $225 from sale at Hamfest
Expenses: $283.16
Expenses include: $191.80 for Constant Contact, 45.40 for battery, 45.96 for December electric bill
Not included: $1,963 for new repeater, $38.62 miscellaneous supplies
Above amounts include reserve funds of $5,000.
Balance available for operating capital after deposits and expenses clear $5,790.30

March speaker will be Ian Barton VK5AIB. His topic will be his tilt over mast system for his R8.
April speaker will be Dave Vest K8DV from DX Engineering. He is a customer service rep and will be talking about helping support hams over the phone.

Jay reported on preparations for the Zoom Auction on March 9.

Ralph reported that the library was not available for our March meeting so it will be Zoom only. We should be back to a hybrid meeting in April.
New Business
Art Wa8VSJ reported that the external power amp for the VHF repeater is not working. A new transistor is around $50
It was reported that the BRARA lock at the gate to the park has been removed. This created problems for a couple of operators staying after the park closed. We’ll reach out to the County to see why.
