BRARA General Membership Meeting minutes for 1 July 2025
The BRARA monthly association meeting was held in person and using Zoom conference. There were 18 attending via Zoom and 20 in the library. The meeting was called to order by BRARA President Ralph Mele W1DAR at 6:31 pm local, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. We then went around the room and Zoom to give first time attendees a chance to introduce themselves. Our speaker this month is Robert Garcia from NOAA. His topic is “Thriving in the Tropics: Hurricane Preparedness and Probabilistic Forecasting”.

Ralph noted that we have a couple of shirts in the Shack waiting to be picked up.

Mike has posted the May General Meeting minutes to the BRARA Blog. Jay S N2ELG made a motion to accept the minutes seconded by Jeff S K4BH. Motion was carried. We found the two meter repeater had a blown fuse in the power amp. The power out of the repeater was increased to 40 watts as a temporary workaround. New member in June was Jordan Makower, WA2BRV. We had a very casual Field Day scoring 870 points. Operating were Rick K1DS, David N2DSL, Fred NF1U and K8BQ Mike.

Income includes $146.93 in memberships and $3,100 in donations
Expenses: $4,152.45
Expenses include: $26 for one month Constant Contact, $11 for water for shack, $36.45 for miscellaneous shack supplies, $79 for WordPress forms for one year, and $4,000 for amplifier purchase
Not included: $108.15 prorated insurance for repeater site insurance and approximately $289 for quarterly electric bill
Above amounts include reserve funds of $5,000.
Balance available for operating capital after deposits and expenses clear: $7,726.91
Note: Donations for the purchase of the HF amplifier were received in both the months of May and June. The total for both months was $4,369.20

July Lunch at Casa Tequila on July 19th at 1pm. Our August speaker will be Andrew KO4TZK. Andrew is the Section Youth Coordinator for the ARRL South Florida Section. He will be speaking about some of his experiences in amateur radio.

General Discussion:
Harold K4KZM – showed information about the planned RV park to be constructed along Atlantic Avenue near the Shack.
Rick K1DS -reported that Jan is finishing the controller for the satellite antenna system. The CQ VHF fo 6 and 2 meters is in mid-July.
