BRARA General Meeting minutes for 7-Feb-2023

The BRARA monthly association meeting was held via Zoom conference. The meeting was called to order by the President, Bruce KO4XL at 7:16pm local. Attending: 28 Zoom participants.  Officers and directors provided an update of their club related activities. Tonight’s speaker is Edison Fong, WB6IQN with a presentation about end fed J-pole type antennas.

Bruce opened the meeting and introduced the speaker and his topic. He then went around the Board members for updates.

Director at Large: Jay S N2ELG

Jay and Ralph will start preparing for the next Auction after Hamcation.

Director at Large: John C N1QFH

John reported Winter FD went very well. There were no technical or N1MM issues. He is starting planning for ARRL FD in June. We need volunteers to handle media publicity and our message handling.

Secretary: Mike K8BQ

Minutes for the January general meeting have been posted on the BRARA Blog. Motion to accept the January minutes by John C N1QFH. Second Jay S N2ELG. Motion carried. Currently have 148 members for 2023. New member for January, Darren Auster KQ4CBF.

Treasurer: Bonnie KC2JVS

Bonnie informed the membership that the Amazon Smile program will end in February. Our liability insurance is coming due. George WA2VNV asked if we have a list of insured items. This needs to be researched as our insurance is different than the ARRL program.

Expenses include $114.95 for rotor repair, $52.85 to ship rotor, $110.00 for QSL cards, $66.00 for
hotspot, and 60.99 for Winter Field Day pizza.
Expenses not included are any other Winter Field Day expenses and upcoming electric bill

Available Balance includes $3,000 cash reserve

Lou reported that the polling committee held a meeting today and would present the Board with a summary of results in February.

Director at Large: George WA2VNV

George suggested setting your HT for 145.290 simplex for communication at Hamcation. The club is looking for a gin pole or components to build one. We are looking for an elevation rotor for the satellite station.

Director at Large: Jeff S K4BH

Jeff will be away for a bit. Nothing new on emergency management

Membership Chair: Henry WA2ROA

Stu Gallant K3RZB. has been providing excellent support to the polling committee. Lunch on 2/18 at 1 pm will be at the Lazy Dog. Radiator Grille will be March 11, between 11 and 2 with a rain date on 3/18. We’re planning on Lucille’s BBQ in Delray Marketplace for April 22 at 1 pm.
