BRARA General Membership Meeting minutes for 6-August-2024
The BRARA monthly association meeting was held by Zoom conference. There was a peak of 31 attending. The meeting was called to order by BRARA President Ralph Mele W1DAR at 6:30 pm local. A minute of silence was held in memory of Jeff Beals WA4AW. Tonight’s speaker is Palm Beach County Commissioner Gregg Weiss with a presentation about Artificial Intelligence.

Mike has posted the July minutes to the BRARA Blog. Henry made a motion to accept the minutes. Ralph seconded the motion to accept the minutes. The motion carried. New members Mario Bai N4BAI, Bill Zeidman KC1RUB, and Robert Brockway KQ4TOM. Current membership is 140.

Income includes $202.86 in memberships and $100.00 in donations
Expenses: $2,501.20
Expenses include: $255.74 for quarterly electric bill, $509 for new router for shack, $116.40 for food
and water for two weeks of work by members, and $1,620.06 for tower repairs, antenna parts, and
other miscellaneous costs related to storm damage at shack.
Not included: and estimated $900 more for Radiator Grille expenses not paid, and $367.64 for
Directors’ Insurance due October 7 th .
Above amounts include reserve funds of $5,000.
Balance available for operating capital after deposits and expenses clear: $5,270.23
President’s Report: Ralph W1DAR
Tower update. The tower volunteer crew replaced the lifting cable. This took both Saturday and Sunday to complete.

Worked with Bruce to put together computers for the auction. No exciting stuff to sell this time so far.
Director at Large: Bruce KO4XL
Bruce cleaned up the statistics for the auction stuff. Jamporee on the Air in October needs radios, ops, and VEs. Reach out to Sam Wilfond if you want to participate. You can’t just show up.
Director at Large: Lou K4LA
Thanks to Barry KO4FBU, Ralph, and all who have been helping repair the tower and fix the damage to the antennas.
Vice President: Henry WA2ROA
Update on John Q, KE4JQ by next weekend. No formal summer lunches have been planned. An informal group met at Ichiyami in July. Someone is needed to coordinate the September lunch.
Paul WA2FOF
Paul reported 13 passed the exams at Valencia Bay and that included 3 Scouts. He also spoke about CERT activity.

Melanie talked about the Gold Coast Field Day activities this year.
Jeff S K4BH
Jeff is working on the Winterfest Boat Parade which is a Broward County ARES event. They can use additional volunteers.
