ARISS team supporting SSTV Thanks to Jan KK3W
The ARISS team will be supporting Slow Scan TV (SSTV) operations from the International Space Station during the period of
Dec 26-31
The images will be related to lunar exploration. The transmissions should be available worldwide on 145.800 MHz FM. The planned SSTV mode is PD 120.
Planned start and stop times are currently listed as: Start Dec 26 about 18:25 GMT
Stop Dec 31 about 17:05 GMT
The signal should be receivable even on a handheld with a 1/4 wave whip. If your rig has selectable FM filters try the wider filter for 25 kHz channel spacing.
Station-4 is in the VHF/UHF room on the north facing desk. It has a FT-897 setup sitting to the left of the secured AMARS station (CLICK FMI). A B-Square Terminated Folded Dipole (CLICK FMI) is available. It remains disconnected and requires no tuner.
If any operator wants to use the FT-897, they may connect the B-Square TFD to the FT-897 jumper coax and operate. Please no AMPS and only run 100 watt limit. When done, please disconnect the B-Square TFD.
The B-Square TFD is 124ft located at approx. 45 feet on the VHF/UHF tower with legs going east-west about 15ft off the ground.
A new year with new challenges. If you ever considered becoming a certified MARS operator, this may be the opportunity for you. Please contact John.C N1QFH email wirehead52@gmail.com.
