MARCH 3 BRARA GENERAL MEETING
Our BRARA monthly meeting will take place March 3rd in person at the West Boca Branch of The Palm Beach County Library as well as on Zoom. People arrive in person between 6:00 – 6:30 PM and Zoom chat opens about 6:00 PM. The business portion of the meeting starts at 6:30 PM and the presentation begins around 7:00 PM. Our March speaker will be Palm Beach County Commissioner Greg Weiss who will give us a presentation on Artificial Intelligence. Commissioner Weiss will explain what Artificial Intelligence (AI) is, share examples of its early uses, and then focus on the rapid growth of AI agents—systems that can plan, make decisions, and complete tasks on behalf of a user, either independently or with minimal input. He will also discuss how to navigate the challenges of AI, including ethical considerations and its potential for misuse, as well as the role of AI in governance. The presentation will conclude with a Q&A session with the audience. Greg will appear in person at our meeting, so please plan on attending at the library if possible.
Commissioner Gregg Weiss, a retired business executive from California, was elected to the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners in 2018 and reelected in 2022. He focuses on several key priorities. First, Gregg advocates for accessible technology and ethical AI use in local governance, serving on the FCC’s Intergovernmental Advisory Board and leading efforts to expand high-speed internet access. Second, he champions water conservation and quality, chairing the Water Resources Taskforce and the Lake Worth Lagoon Initiative Steering Committee. Third, Gregg actively fights against bigotry and hate crimes through local ordinances and community leadership.
