AD HOC FREE NET TIME

This is a great way to keep your hands active in amateur radio and possibly help someone who may want to hear a friendly voice and share thoughts.

From our Monday Voice Com Net and in response to our poll of net participants, we are adding a few defined days and times that operators can expect to find others willing and able to connect and commence a QSO. These details are below defined and will not enlist a next control station (NCS) thus these are ad hoc free nets. 

 7AM AND 7PM

Repeater:  BRARA Analog 145.29(-) PL-110.9
Repeater:  BRARA DMR 442.875(+) CC-1 TG-311027
Day of week: Monday to Saturday
Time of day: 7am and 7pm
Purpose: Provide for those wanting more radio time
Duration:  5,10,15 etc min, use as long as needed
Protocol: Key up, state your callsign, name, QTH
Modes: Analog and DMR, try both

  • Power supply (20 amp / 13 volt) for the transceiver
  • Up to date computer to support the satellite and EME operation

VHF / UHF Room at The Shack: WEAK SIGNAL STATION 

We are looking for donation of an ICOM IC-706-Mk2g to replace the current 6 meter weak signal operation. The current transceiver is intermittent and not repairable.

The BRARA Board and stakeholders are assessing a proposed change to the day of the week and time to relocate this net. Th reason is to reduce the number of nets on one given day of the week and encourage operators to join and be an active  participant. More to follow.

  • Text should be in MS Word or equivalent, saved as a .DOC file
  • Write your best stuff, but don’t sweat the grammar. That’s why there’s an editor.
  • Please submit pictures/illustrations as separate files, don’t embed them in the text.
  • Be sure to submit clear, in-focus photos

To obtain a key to the BRARA Ham Shack you must be a member in good standing for a minimum of one continuous year, hold a valid FCC Amateur Radio License, and complete a short training session with one of the Club officers.
